DESCRIPTION:
APW - Elgin, Grade 156, 21J, 16S, heavy 14K gold (tested, marking has worn away) original HC with initials to front, "C.D. Peacock" marked white enamel DS dial, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement, decorative gold disk surrounding balance jewel setting, three finger bridge mvt, ornate nickel damascene, s#6463337. Gross weight of assembled watch 68.5 dwt (106.5 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking slightly sluggishly, stem only sporadically engages winding and is not engaging setting function, overhaul needed for this issue, fine cosmetic mvt condition overall, some cloudiness of plate tone, oxide to winding wheels, click and a number of screw heads; dial with scattered hls, some edge flaking under bezel at 7, few scattered negligible edge nicks elsewhere under bezel; fine mismatched hands, minute and seconds-hand are plum colored, hour is gilt; case front opens wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 100 degrees) and case front leaves a gap to band along left side when closed, case shows medium wear, scratches to cuvette from slipped past openings, numerous scattered dings and mild to moderate dents throughout, reduced engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows ample wear with ridge break; ill-fitting clean plastic crystal is currently loose and should be replaced.
